This unique piece is made of a dry seasoned Basswood to prevent any cracking and to ensure the wood is very stable. 
Davydov's carvings are finished with shellac, dyes and painted with acrylic paints. The sculpture is then protected with 3 coats of varnish so this process protects the piece against UV, moisture, dust and requires no further special maintenance.
